BACk BY POPULAR DEMAND
This is the second time we arrange our abject courses- after popular demand.
We offer two different courses with different modules in each course. IT is recommended to take them both, but it is possible to sign up to one of the courses.
Please note that this course has fewer spots than our other courses. This is due to the nature of the content that is taught- it is to create a safe spacE where all can get to know each other, and To feel free and safe to discuss and explore the subject at hand.
Who are our abject courses for?
Well, if you find the subject of what repulses us as humans interesting or fascinating- this is probably for you! You don´t have to do drag, or be a performanceartist to take the class, but note that the course is taught in the context of drag and performance art, and that the classes are both theoretical and practical (making effects or trying things on the floor).
“Dette var så givende, trygt og lærerikt. Jeg følte at vi virkelig fikk pratet om veldig interessante temaer, og det var super inspirerende”
“Kunnskapen til kursholderne er utrolig! Jeg storkoste meg med å lære om det gufne og grusomme, og møte likesinnede og ha det moro sammen med det frastøtende som kunst”

About the teacher
Brødskive aka Jens Martin Hartvedt Arvesen is a dancer, and has worked with many different art mediums, most notably Drag, Dance and DJing.
They started their Drag career in 2013 together with the others in Princessilicious. They have initiated and had a finger in many different concepts for the Queer and Drag community in Oslo. Current editions of collaborations for queer artistic infrastructure and accessibility of the arts include, but is not limited to, Karmaklubb*, Oslo Drag Festival and Queer Community Club (QCC). They are also continuously expanding and researching knowledge about drag and teaching Drag at OsloMet.
Jens Martin has a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Dance, a Master’s degree in Dance and practical-pedagogical education from Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO).
Brødskive’s contribution to the spirit of the Abject in Norwegian drag and cabaret art started in 2019 with viewing parties of Boulet Brothers’ Dragula Season 3, and shortly after, in 2020 with the seminar “Draglaboratoriet – Becoming the Abject”. It was then infused into their and Brødskive’s immediate circle of colleagues’ performance practices with Princessilicious and beyond. The importance of the Abject in Drag tradition, also known as Filth, can’t be overstated, and I believe that exploring disgust can be healthy for both performer, audience and society as a whole.

About the teacher
Peter Ramthun, also known as the dragartist Eliza Fierce, has since the beginning of their dragcareer in 2017, been fascinated by visual expressions, and how bodily taboos can affect the audience. In daily life, Peter works as a nurse in the intensive unit at Akershus University Hospital. His drag is inspired by the visual experiences he has made from this work. His inspiration comes from what many consider repulsive or disgusting, and sees beauty where others may not.
Eliza Fierce has been an active member of the drag community in Oslo since 2017, working in Open Drag Stage, being a social media manager for Oslo Drag Festival and as part of the drag collective Princessilicious. In 2023 Fierce also debuted as producer of their own dragshow concept called Abjectified, where Abject is celebrated and explored.
