Content
DRAG ME TO THE STAGE is for you that has some experience in performance art, or drag from before and wants to perform drag on stage and improve your dragacts. The course focuses on the performance aspect of drag, and will have a higher level than Drag 101. This course series is up to 2 hours long each time, has fewer course spots, and the teacher will also add time outside the course for you to get individual feedback and guidance on your act (up to total 45 min per person).
The course will always start with games and exercises to create a group feeling, and as well to rehearse and hone skills that we need while performing: such as stage presence, strong and willed expressions, and stage and audience awareness. Further each course will immerse in different themes. You will be working towards developing an individual act and you will get the chance to show it at the semester ending show (but you can also choose to just make the act, and not performing at the semester show).
Note: The course does not cover visual transformation aspects like make- up, hair and outfit.
Course week 1- Theory about drag, drag performance and the drag scene in Norway
Course week 2- Dramaturgy- the art of constructing a good drag act
Course week 3- Digital aspects of drag: music and video editing (mostly focus on music editing with tips for video editing)
Course week 4- Movement and choreographing oneself
A week break (work on your act)
Course week 5- Working on your act- feedback
